On April 19, 2026, a devastating fire broke out in Sandakan, Sabah, destroying approximately 1,000 homes and displacing thousands of residents. The blaze spread rapidly due to strong winds and the close proximity of houses, while low tide conditions further hampered firefighting efforts by limiting access to water sources. In response to this tragedy, JCL Credit Leasing took immediate action by contributing food supplies to six temporary accommodation centers, including PPR Batu Sapi, SK Kampung Gas, SK Kampung Bahagia, SMK Batu Sapi, SK Karamunting, and Dewan Sibuga. The donated items consisted of essential food ensuring that displaced families received timely nutritional support.
This reflects JCL’s commitment to responsible financial management while maximizing the impact of its CSR efforts. The donations were delivered on April 26, 2026, with proper documentation, visitor forms, and verification by the Person in Charge (PIC) at each center, supported by photo evidence of distribution. According to official data from the Sandakan District Disaster Management Committee, more than 1,048 individuals—including babies, children, adults, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities—were sheltered across the centres. JCL’s timely intervention helped stabilize food security during the critical first week of displacement, demonstrating its dedication to community welfare and humanitarian responsibility.
