EXPANSION OF SALES AND SERVICE TAX (“SST”) TO FINANCIAL SERVICES

Effective 1 July 2025, scope of Service Tax will be expanded to selected financial services, and the implementation will be carried out in phases.

In accordance with the Guidelines on Financial Services ("Guidelines") issued by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD), JCL will be imposing an 8% Service Tax on applicable financial services, effective 1 September 2025.

We will continue to closely monitor regulatory updates and provide further communication as necessary. For more information on the expanded SST scope, kindly refer to the Guidelines published by RMCD.

Effective 05 April 2019, The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has announced the rebranding of “Licensed Money Lenders” under the ministry to “Credit Community”. The rebranding come with new name, new logo and QR code to help public to identify legitimate sources of financing.
